TelCell technicians resolving cell site issue on Fort William Hill.

PHILIPSBURG:---  TelEm Group mobile provider, TelCell, reported Friday night that technicians have regularized a problem affecting a cell site located at Fort William Hill and in the process have improved mobile calls originating from this cell site and surrounding areas.

According to Manager, Network Operations, Mr. Julien Lake, a number of drive tests were carried out late Friday to confirm better operation of the mobile network in parts of Cay Hill, Bush Road, St. John and Saunders.

He said a radio unit on the Fort William Hill cell site has been temporarily adjusted to enable more efficient calls on the network until more permanent adjustments can be made and signaling equipment moved.

“Customers who have been experiencing dropped calls and who have not been able to make calls will now have regular service resumed, however since the affected cell site is not operating at full capacity there may be capacity issues at peak times of the day and especially at the weekend,” said Mr. Lake.

He said the permanent fix involves discussion and cooperating with another telecommunication provider in the same location. Mr. Lake has informed that as soon as these discussions are concluded, TelCell’s permanent solution will be put in place.

“We apologize to our mobile and data customers for the inconvenience caused and we assure them that we are diligently working on this cell site issue as a matter of priority,” said Mr. Lake.
