Pond Island:---- Lucky SMS texting champs Ruby Wilson, Elaine Joseph-Carty and Sabine Bayliss visited TelEm Group’s main office on Pond Island Wednesday to collect prizes they won in TelCell’s Christmas SMS contest.
The SMS raffle was the crowning part of the mobile provider’s annual 12 Days to Christmas countdown, which this year attracted a record number of contestants (15,000).
All customers had to do was send as many SMS text messages as they wished to a designated number to automatically enter the computer-generated draw.
For her effort in sending an untold number of SMS messages, entertainer, Ruby Wilson carried home a huge 50” Samsung LED Smart TV which she will be putting to good use in her line of work.
Office manager, Sabine Bayliss, couldn’t wait to get home to deliver a brand new XBOX1 Console to her four children, all of whom were thrilled to learn that mum would be bringing home an extra Christmas gift courtesy of the TelCell SMS contest.
The final winner was Elaine Joseph-Carty, who together with her teenage daughter, won a Samsung Smart PC – which mum explained would be going to the younger winner to help with her studies.
All the winners thanked TelCell for their prizes, saying they were more than satisfied and thrilled to be winners in the end of year draw.
Manager, Marketing & Sales, Emile van der Weerd, thanked everyone who took part in the TelCell SMS contest noting that they all helped to create a fantastic buzz for the annual end of year campaign.
He said more than 15,000 SMS messages were received by the time the final draw was made, proving that the promotion was a total success as much as it was fun. It has also prompted demand for similar promotions during the course of 2016
“We wanted the prizes for this promotion to be something special so that customers would feel they were worth sending SMS messages for, and based on the overall response everyone certainly got into the spirit of the season and the campaign,” said Emile, who also praised Marketing & Sales Officer, Marelva Jones-Felix for doing an “Outstanding” job of coordinating the 12-days of Christmas countdown.
