Rotary St. Martin Sunrise Fundraiser April 27 to go towards Playground for Children at the Emilio Wilson Park.

toastmasters15042016PHILIPSBURG/MARIGOT:--- Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise is having a fundraising activity on April 27 at Caribbean Cinemas. “The Taming of the Shrew,” ballet will get underway at 6.30pm. Funds raised from this event will go towards a number of community projects which the club organizes throughout the year.
One of the projects is related to the Emilio Wilson Park.
Back in 2004, the Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise executed its first community project which was the building of a “Playground” at the Emilio Wilson Park. The Club chose this project due to the lack of facilities on the island catered to outdoor activities which the whole family can enjoy.
Due to the weather, vandalism and other elements not within the Club’s control, the state of the Playground has deteriorated tremendously over the years. In continuity with the Club’s efforts to promote safe family orientated outdoor activities within the community, the Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise chose to collaborate with “Participant Foundation” on the rebuilding/refurbishing of the Playground. Participant Foundation champions the participation-based approach to community development on St. Maarten.
The goal is to refurbish the existing playground at Emilio Wilson Park, so that it becomes a vibrant children’s playground and Family recreational. The project seeks to involve the general public and local business by way of volunteerism and donation of funds and materials.
