PHILIPSBURG:--- Chief Commissioner of Police Carl John, Head of the Detective Department Commissioner Denise Jacobs and Acting Head of the Uniform Division Chief Inspector Benjamin Gout received a courtesy visit on Wednesday July 20th at the Police Head Quarters from Mr. Claret Connor Executive Director of the St Maarten Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Aaron Antersijn and Mr. Oren Ras of ARSEC Security. Mr. Antersijn and Mr. Ras are on the island to facilitate an Operational Security Profiling certification course (OSP), which focuses amongst others on learning how to identify threats in an early stage to be able to either prevent these or mitigate the potential damage this can cause to their victims.
The meeting was to apprise the Chief Commissioner John and his colleagues of the specifics of the training and the benefits of such a program for the improvement in the quality of security in general for St Maarten.
The Security Certification course is presently being conducted and a cross section of persons from the major companies and institutions on island such as the Harbor Group, SXM AIRPORT, the Justice Academy, Private Security Companies, CHECKMATE SECURITY- SHERIFF SECURITY- FIRST RESPONSE SECUTIY, WIB Bank, UTS and TELEM and the Social Insurance Bank are participating.
A cross section of organizations has been carefully selected by the Chamber to take part in this certification course. The successful participants will receive a diploma and become a certified OSP registered in The Netherlands.
Commissioner John extended his appreciation to the Chamber for organizing this course and looks forward to other improvement initiatives in this regard; the Chief added that this can only enhance the quality of security throughout the island.
