Six law firms leading in Dutch Caribbean.

International publisher Chambers & Partners has launched the 2017-edition of its global ranking of law firms – Chambers Global. This year, six Dutch Caribbean law firms and twelve individual lawyers have been ranked in bands from 1 to 6 (with 1 being the best).

VanEps Kunneman is the firm with the desired Band 1 firm status, like last year. The firm also has five individually ranked lawyers. HBN Law and Spigt Dutch Caribbean hold the Band 2 status. HBN Law has two ranked attorneys and all other firms have one ranked lawyer.

On VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne Chambers says " [...] The team possesses expertise in corporate/M&A, finance, IP, and employment law, in addition to litigation. The Curaçao office is also home to the firm's Suriname desk, which is a source of regular transactional matters.” HBN Law “[...] is greatly valued by clients for its depth of experience. It is particularly well regarded for dispute resolution, having handled several large, cross-border arbitrations as well as high-profile litigation cases. [...]” Spigt Dutch Caribbean "maintains "an excellent reputation” [...] and handles mandates in the hospitality and real estate sectors, including the financing, development, and sale of major hotel complexes.” The other ranked firms are SMS Attorneys at Law, Soliana Bonapart & Aardenburg, and STvB.

Chambers & Partners also ranks individuals. This year, twelve lawyers receive this honorable praise. Both Aruba, Bonaire and Sint Maarten have one ranked lawyer. The individually ranked lawyers in Band 1 are Randolph van Eps (VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne), Karel Frielink (BZSE Attorneys at Law), Frank Kunneman (VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne), Eric de Vries (HBN Law) and Martijn Welten (Spigt Dutch Caribbean).

The annual global ranking is based on recommendations of clients and peers, supported by database research, and therefore offers an independent evaluation for organizations that are looking to instruct a lawyer.
