William hopes Govt releases container homes to residents soon.

williammarlin02012017PHILIPSBURG:--- Former Prime Minister William Marlin in a press release on Sunday expressed hope that residents who are in need will soon receive the 12 container homes he had ordered, when he had been in office, for persons who lost their residences during hurricane Irma.

The homes are sturdy 20-foot collapsible containers that are fully isolated and can be assembled in five minutes with a crane. To erect, the containers have to be pulled up by a crane and locked into position and are ready to occupy. They are equipped with windows, an entrance door, and electrical wiring.

Marlin had the privilege of meeting recently with some Chinese acquaintances from the China Sustainable Development Foundation, whom he developed a friendship with while he had been in office. Representatives of the Foundation were in St. Maarten recently. The Foundation had been instrumental in shipping the 12 container homes that Marlin had ordered, to St. Maarten.

Two of the container homes had been promised to the Charlotte Brookson Academy. CBA which was one of the local schools significantly affected by hurricane Irma.

Marlin expressed the hope that CBA receives the promised container homes to be used for storage and that the remainder will be released soon to provide much-needed relief to persons whom had lost their homes during the hurricane.

“I hope that government would make the container homes available for people who have lost their homes. The intention was to order 200 more of these homes”.
