PHILIPSBURG:--- On March 22nd Ombudsman St. Maarten Gwendolien E. Mossel paid and informative visit to the Mental Health Foundation. The invitation requested by MHF Interim Director Ms. Eileen Healy was based on having the new ombudsman introduced to the staff at as well and providing a clear explanation of the list of services being provided at the foundation. Ombudsman Mossel was well engaged and asked tough questions while being enlightened by staff members about their various roles at the foundation and the importance of mental health care on St. Maarten.
The Mental Health Foundation is dedicated to providing the best psychiatric care possible to the people on St. Maarten despite many challenges, stated executive assistant Cyrille Brooks.
The ombudsman will be hosting informative meetings April 2nd thru April 4th in several communities on the island in order to seek out the concerns, grievances, and complaints of the people as well as continuing to promote awareness on the role of the institution.
