PHILIPSBURG:--- In connection with the upcoming “Golden Ballon around town Jump-up” which is scheduled to be held on Friday, April 5th the police department is making the following announcement.
The Jump-up will start at 08.00 p.m. sharp leaving Madame Estate via the A.Th. Illidge road to the crossing of the A.Th Illidge road, Prince Bernard Bridge, Longwall road and Walter Nisbet road. A left turn will be made onto the Walter Nisbet road and making a right turn onto the Percy La Bega Street and then a left turn unto the Longwall road toward Front Street.
The parade will then make a right turn into the Front Street to Emmaplein continuing onto the Welvaart Brug and then a left turn onto the Juancho Yrausquin Boulevard to Freedom Fighters Round About.
At the Freedom Fighter road about the parade will make a left turn onto the Walter Nisbet road to the Salt Pickers Roundabout. At the Salt Pickers round about the parade will make a right turn onto the Soualiga Boulevard and will end in front of the Festival Village.
During the passing of the jump-up, all streets, roads, and alleys connected to the route will be closed to all motor vehicle traffic. When the jump-up has passed these roads will immediately reopen to all traffic.
On the day of the parade, Front Street will be closed from 06.00 p.m. until the Jump up has passed. Residents, hotel and guest house operators of Front Street are advised to take keen note of this information and are requested to inform their guests not to park on Front Street during the time that it is closed.
The police department is taking this opportunity to remind the community that the Transaction List remains in effect and any misconduct during this period will be dealt with immediately. The Police Department is also asking the community and mainly the vendors for safety reasons not to serve any drinks in glass bottles or glass containers.
