St. Maarten hosts Regional Forum Promoting Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering, New Technologies and Exploring the Future of Business Risk.

4-7 JUNE 2019 – Sonesta Maho Resort

GovRisk, a UK-based Training & Consultancy specialising in Financial Crime Prevention and Anti-Corruption are hosting the 4th Annual Dutch Caribbean AML & Regulation Forum (4-7 JUNE 2019) at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort. The Forum is supported by the Government of Sint Maarten and the Financial Intelligence Unit.

• Regulators, Banks, Compliance Professionals, Law Firms, Accountants and Auditors, Casinos, Lotteries, and many other Business Sectors from across the Dutch Caribbean will be in attendance to discuss the latest Regulatory Developments, Business Challenges and Opportunities for Innovation emerging in the Dutch Caribbean;

• Training Sessions, Interactive Workshops and Debates will be led by international experts and industry leaders; the forum will address Global Regulatory Standards and Strategies to Reduce the Risk of Criminal Activity in the context of the 4th Round of CFATF Mutual Evaluation;

 The interactive training will examine a wide variety of topics with the assembled participants benefiting from the experience of regional and international experts. The Forum will be focusing on how to effectively prepare Sint Maarten and other Dutch Caribbean jurisdictions ahead of their upcoming CFATF Mutual Evaluations which will see the vulnerabilities of their respective Financial and Gaming sectors to Money-Laundering and Terrorist-Financing Risks as well examining the strength of their corresponding regulatory regimes assessed under the FATF 40+9 Recommendations.
Speakers include AML/CFT experts Alan Pedley and Tony Clark from Australia, Cheryl Bazard, lawyer and former Senator from the Bahamas, Avere Hill the Co-Owner of Singapore-based RegTech CYNOPSIS, Chairman of the International Bankers’ Association Franklin Girigori and from the USA, Keith Whyte, Executive Director of the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG), Detective Dave Hanich from the Delaware State Police Division of Gaming Enforcement and Maureen Williamson former Gaming Regulator of New Jersey who will all be sharing their extensive expertise.

Over 100 representatives from the legal and financial sectors, FinTech industry, casino directors, gaming and banking regulators, compliance officers and law enforcement personnel from across 5 Caribbean jurisdictions will attend the event, which is taking place at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort & Casino, Philipsburg, Sint Maarten from the 4th – 7th June 2019.
