A Heavy Rainfall Advisory is in effect for St. Maarten From 6 pm today until 12 pm Wednesday, July 31.

tropicalwave300720192Convection associated with an approaching tropical wave is expected to begin affecting our already unstable local atmosphere by this evening. This will likely produce periods of scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms along with gusty winds. Some of these showers could be heavy at times. Due to already saturated soils from recent rainfall, flooding, rockfall and/or landslides remain a threat in vulnerable areas. Residents and motorists in these areas are advised to be exercise caution when in these areas and/or avoid them whenever possible.

 A Precautionary statement means that there is a slight possibility ( 30% chance) of occurrence within the next 8 to 24 hours.
A Heavy Rainfall Watch is an announcement when heavy rainfall is evident within the following hours.
A Heavy Rainfall Advisory is an announcement when heavy rains are about to occur or occurring already but are not strong enough to require a warning.
A Heavy Rainfall Warning is an announcement when heavy rains are about to occur or are occurring
