Power issue hits TelEm Group Cable TV services for second time.

cabletv28072019PHILIPSBURG:--- A second power system failure has again caused damage to TelEm Group equipment located in Madame Estate, resulting in interruptions in CableNet, TelTV, and CableTV services Monday evening.

Late last month an electrical problem at the CableTV Headend in Madame Estate caused similar damage to equipment, affecting the same services.

The latest incident occurred on Monday evening with technicians reporting that the power issue this time was not the same as the first.

Manager, Core Networks, Mr. Percival Cocks, said engineers began working on the problem right away Monday night and managed to restore CableNet services that same evening.

“We restored TelTV service at 10:00 am Tuesday morning and at 1:00 pm Tuesday afternoon had restored some CABLE TV channels with the aim of restoring the remaining channels later Tuesday evening,” said Mr. Cocks.

He said until a critical piece of equipment is installed, the repaired power issue will remain a temporary fix until a permanent solution is put in place within three weeks.

Mr. Cocks says engineers and technicians worked diligently to get services up as quickly as possible as soon as the alarms were raised Monday evening.

“We do not anticipate any further problems once the remaining CableTV Channels are restored, but we will continue to monitor the power systems and equipment and take all measures to protect them from damage until we install the replacement parts,” added the Manager, Core Networks.

Mr. Cocks has apologized to customers of CableNet, TelTV, and CableTV for any inconvenience caused by the interruption in their respective services Monday and Tuesday.
