PHILIPSBURG:--- The owner of Robbie's Lotterie Robertico dos Santos (Robbie) of Robbie's Lotterie was arrested early this morning on St. Maarten as a suspect in the MAXIMUS case. The MAXIMUS case has to do with the assassination of Helmin Wiels some years ago.
Earlier this year, the brother of Dos Santos, former Minister of Finance in Curacao George Jamaloodin was convicted to 28 years imprisonment for the part he played in the assassination of Helmin Wiels.
Guilliano Schoop spokesman from Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that the examining judge in Curacao evaluated a petition that was submitted to the judge which led to the detention of Robbie Dos Santos on Monday morning.
Schoop said that Dos Santos will be heard today by an examining judge on St. Maarten later today then he will be transferred to Curacao at its earliest.
ARREST MADE IN MAXIMUS INVESTIGATION
In connection to the ongoing Maximus investigation, suspect R.A.d.S. of Curaçao was arrested this morning, November 18th, 2019, on Sint Maarten. The Public Prosecution Service had filed a request with the supervisory judge on Curaçao to have the suspect detained. The supervisory judge had determined from the investigation, thus far, that there was sufficient evidence for the arrest. R.A.d.S. will be held 8 days in pre-trial detention and will be heard today by the supervisory judge on Sint Maarten. Thereafter the grounds for his transferral to Curacao, for further investigation, will be determined.
No further information about this ongoing investigation will be given at this moment.
