Observe rules during election campaign period.

PHILIPSBURG:--- The Public Prosecutor’s Office would like to remind the general public of the Zero Tolerance Policy as the election campaigning period has commenced. The election period is considered to be an event for which the special event's guidelines will be applied, similar to the guidelines that are used during the Heineken Regatta, Carnival and Hurricane Season.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office points out that while a permit is not mandatory to host a rally, organizers must inform the Ministry of Justice and the Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) of the location, date and time. As well, while manifesting individuals should be cautious of interrupting traffic or placing campaign paraphernalia in locations that obstruct mobility.

The Zero Tolerance policy is in place to defend the community and prevent serious harm to health and safety. As well safeguard the continuation of public administration, protect vital public interests, protect the environment from serious damage, protect important personal property, limit economic damage and protect animal life.
