~Board of SMMC admits it made mistakes.~
PHILIPSBURG:---The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Marco Meuleman has resigned from all three positions he was given at the St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC). Members of the Windwards Islands Health Care Union began protest actions for the past three days after Meuleman was harassing the financial auditor who is a local candidate. Meuleman was holding the positions as CFO, head of IT, and head of Human Resources.
Members of the WIHCUA held a meeting with members of the Supervisory Board where they were notified that Meuleman resigned from all positions he was holding and will be leaving the institution.
The WIHCUA also confirmed that they will be monitoring who will be appointed to these top positions in the management of St. Maarten Medical Center. The WIHCUA is of the opinion that St. Maarten has local candidates that can fill these positions and that there is no need to import such persons to the island.
Besides that the Supervisory Board of SMMC admitted to the union that there has been some breakdown in communication over a period of time, which they promised to improve.
