PHILIPSBURG:--- The department of The Interior and Kingdom Relations kicks off the first Zoom consultation session on the draft National Development Vision. The session will take place today, Tuesday, August 4th at 9:00 am. The session will be live-streamed from the Facebook of the department of The Interior and Kingdom Relations.
Sint Maarten’s draft National Development Vision (NDV), serves as a guide for the long-term development of Sint Maarten and is based on many years of collected baseline information from government, residents, and organizations.
The NDV is founded on the goals of the constitution of Sint Maarten. In addition, economic resilience is used to provide the framework for the vision. Resilience is being addressed over four dimensions covering economic-, social-, institutional- and environmental issues.
The key objective of Sint Maarten’s NDV is transforming Sint Maarten into a compassionate, strong and decisive country that will be economically resilient and capable of sustaining its own development and providing an enhanced quality of life and well-being for generations to come.
Departing from this objective, the Vision for Sint Maarten is built on three pillars/development themes: a Compassionate and Vibrant Society, a Strong and Resilient economy, and a decisive and ambitious country. Each pillar outlines visionary goals per subtheme, including targets aligned to the (international) Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).
As of Monday, July 20, the NDV was made available online for public consumption. The Zoom sessions will be live-streamed via the Facebook page of the department of The Interior and Kingdom Relations. All are urged to tune into these sessions and provide their feedback.
