PHILIPSBURG:--- The Sint Maarten Police Force (KPSM) responded to reports of a disturbance in Downstreet, Philipsburg, earlier today. An individual was allegedly threatening persons, including family members, in the area.
Upon arrival, officers observed that the individual was under the influence of alcohol. Police engaged with the individual and his family members, advising him to return to his residence to sleep off his intoxication.
As officers were preparing to leave the location, the situation escalated when the individual picked up a brick and threw it in the direction of one of his nephews. This act sparked a physical altercation among family members.
To stop the altercation, police were required to use force to subdue the intoxicated individual. Officers swiftly intervened, preventing further harm and stopping the individual from assaulting his family member. The suspect was subsequently reprimanded, arrested, and transported to the Philipsburg Police Station, where he is currently being held for questioning.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
