Philipsburg (DCOMM):--- The Department of Permits & Licenses wants the business community and the general public to know about the extended opening hours for the up-coming Christmas season.
The Ministry of Tourism Economic Affairs, Transportation, and Telecommunications, hereby informs the community, that as a means to promote economic activity throughout the upcoming Christmas Holiday season, an exemption is granted to all businesses on Dutch Sint Maarten to extend their business hours during the entire month of December as follows:
On working days (including Boxing Day, December 26, 2012), all businesses are allowed to be open until 10pm. On Saturdays (including Kingdom Day, December 15, 2012) and Sundays, the opening hours are extended until 10pm as well.
Please take note that this exemption does not apply for the official public holidays Christmas day (December 25, 2012) and New Year's Day (January 1, 2013) as it is mandatory to remain closed on these days.
