Civil Servants will get December 24th off --- COM took decision to give Civil Servants day off.

Philipsburg:--- The Council of Ministers has taken a decision to grant all civil servants a full day off on December 24th, 2012. Prime Minister Sarah Wescot Williams announced on Wednesday at the Council of Ministers' weekly press briefing that several government offices will be closed on Christmas Eve day, therefore residents and visitors to the island should take note of it. The Prime Minister said in the past civil servants were given half day off but this year the COM has decided to give them the entire day off so that they could run their errands and prepare for the Christmas. December 24th falls on a Monday this year. The annual Christmas tree lightening will take place this Saturday. The event will kick off at 4:30pm with a parade.
