The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of Alberto Rosa De La Rosa on suspicion of the murder of Riky Dennis Bautista Familia
Mr Bautista was stabbed during an incident at Maria's Bar (also known as Jazmin Bar) at Sea Cow's Bay on Friday 16th November 2012. He was pronounced dead at the scene and a later post mortem examination confirmed that he died as a result of a stab injury.
A reward of $10,000 is offered for information leading to the arrest of Alberto Rosa De La Rosa.
Head of the Crime Division, Acting Superintendent Alexis Charles said "The investigation is at an advanced stage. The response from the community has been good and we have secured a lot of evidence. A file of evidence is with the Director of Public Prosecutions".
He added "His current whereabouts are unclear. It has been suggested that Rosa De La Rosa is still in the Territory however we have had information that he may have fled Tortola soon after the incident."
Acting Superintendent Alexis Charles further added "The reason we are offering a reward of $10,000 and not a higher amount is that we have a known suspect in this case. We merely need to know where Rosa De La Rosa is. The reward is payable to people overseas as well as within the BVI. We are working with all our Regional Law Enforcement partners and Interpol.
He concluded by saying "I appeal to Rosa De La Rosa to give himself up. The alternative is a life on the run, always looking over your shoulder, waiting to be arrested. If you have an explanation of what happened that night then please step forward and give it. I would also appeal to Rosa De La Rosa's family and friends to encourage him to come forward"
Alberto Rosa De La Rosa is described as a 32 year old male. He is of Hispanic appearance with brown skin. He is about 5'8" tall and of slim build, weighing about 140 lbs. During the incident it is believed that Rosa De La Rosa lost a tooth.
Both Rosa De La Rosa and the victim, Mr. Bautista Familia are citizens of the Dominican Republic.
