Minister of Labour Took Jab at Media for Publishing Indecent Language.

corneliusdeweever19122012Philipsburg:--- Minister of Labour, Health, and Social Affairs Cornelius De Weever took a jab at media workers during the Council of Ministers' weekly press briefing on Wednesday. His statements were aimed at publishers that are publishing obscene language in their newspaper. Minister De Weever said that a few months ago he declared that he would be responsible and professional as he executes the people's business. The Minister said he still stands by his statements but if media workers want him, Members of Parliament, and politicians to remain responsible and professional then media workers have to exercise professionalism and being responsible when executing their duties. Minister de Weever said he is always available to verify information and if reporters are going to write about him then they need to contact him directly or his office for his opinion or the facts that he would have rather than just writing a story. Minister De Weever said that he does not believe that newspapers should be using foul or obscene language when reporting the news. He said that the population and the various Ministers reads these newspapers and if the newspapers will continue with the use of foul and indecent language then the Ministry that is responsible for monitoring the media would have to intervene. He said he respects freedom of the press but in his opinion it has to be done responsibly.
