On behalf of the United Peoples (UP) party Members of Parliament, we would like to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the twenty young boys and girls and the adults who were killed last week in the elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut USA.
Our prayers and thoughts are with the families, friends, the entire community of Newtown, Connecticut and everyone affected in one way or the another by this horrendous crime, as they start the process of laying to rest the innocent young girls and boys as well as their teachers and teaching staff this week.
As a person who volunteers to read to our children at an elementary school in Sint Maarten, I too was horrified and deeply saddened. I cannot imagine losing an entire class of young ones while they are at a place they ought to feel safe and secure while preparing for life ahead of them. We must show our solidarity with the school and community of Newtown Connecticut.
This heinous and heart wrenching event reportedly is the second deadliest school shooting in US history.
While the United States of America is a great Nation, it must and can do more to protect its little ones from such senseless gun violence ever happening again.
I appeal to the Sint Maarten nation this holiday season, to keep the families, friends and the bereaved community in their prayers.
