GREAT BAY (DCOMM):--- Minister of Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, and Sports Hon. Silveria Jacobs is inviting the community to the opening of the Christmas Village on Friday evening at the Captain Hodge Wharf in Philipsburg.
Under the banner, "Christmas in Sint Maarten," is an event of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth, and Sports, and runs from Friday evening to Monday, December 24.
Christmas Village will kick off at 7:30pm by Minister Jacobs. There will be special entertainment by St. Maarten's Youthful Stars. MC for the evening will be Lil Miss St. Maarten 2012-2013 Genesis Myers. The village is will be open until 10:00pm on Friday.
On Saturday, there will be a String Band and a special music presentation by "God's Chosen" Lead by Benjamin Bell and Jolly Boys. Activities will be from 11:00am to 9:00pm.
Sunday has been designated as Choral Sunday. The Council of Churches presents Choral performances from the various choirs on the island. These activities will start at 11:00am and run through 8:00pm.
The final day of "Christmas in Sint Maarten," comes to a conclusion on Christmas Eve. The day has been branded as Sentimental Christmas and there will be performances by local artists. The day kicks off at 11:00am until 8:00pm.
The four days of Christmas Village activities take place at the Captain Hodge Wharf.
