Early Morning Road Accident Claims Lives of Two --- Third in Critical Condition.

jacksonbrooksandsurajillis22122012Philipsburg:--- An early morning accident in the vicinity of Royal Funeral Home claimed the lives of two St. Maarten citizens. The first victim has been identified as Suraj Sunil Illis better known as "Skonkiedoole" born on September 18th, 1981. Illis was a well known mechanic who was living on Zaggersgut Road with his wife, three children, and other close relatives including his siblings. The second victim has been identified as Jackson Brooks while the third person who was involved in the accident Nathan Rombley remains in critical condition. Medical personnel including SZV were busy making arrangements Saturday morning to evacuate Rombley off island for further medical care. According to information provided to SMN News, Nathan Rombley is not in possession of a passport and that is making the evacuation process more difficult. SMN News learnt that the patient will be evacuated to the Dominican Republic since he is of Dominicano descent.

Relatives of Illis said their brother was driving a red Lexus jeep when the accident occurred on Sucker Garden Road. The family said all three of the persons that were in the vehicle at the time of the early morning accident were close friends and they lived close to each other. However, none of the relatives knew where the young men were going or where they were coming from since it was early in the morning. They said the accident occurred around 4am Saturday morning.

Acting Police Spokesman Ricardo Henson confirmed that the bodies have been confiscated as police investigate the cause of the accident. One of the possibilities police are looking at is if alcohol played any role in the accident. Already police believe that speed played a major role in the deadly early morning accident. Henson said Illis (Skonkiedoole) was the driver of the car and he died on the scene while Brooks died at the St. Maarten Medical Center where he was taken for treatment.
