GREAT BAY:--- TelEm Group's Personnel Association Bike-A-Thon, held last Saturday in collaboration with the Positive Foundation was a "tremendous success" - according to the event organizers.
More than 50 bikers of all ages turned out to pedal around the Great Salt Pond to mark Breast Cancer Awareness month on St. Maarten.
They moved out from the TelEm Group Building as scheduled with a police escort along the route.
According to Personnel Association President, Stanley Faneyte, participants tackled the course with much enthusiasm and with good spirits for a worthy cause.
""There was a strong family element to the event with some socializing afterwards with some refreshments, games for the children and a game of bolas for the adults to wind down after the grueling ride," said Stanley.
The Personnel Association had a special "Thank You" for all the youngsters who took part, also the Personnel Association members and all the TelEm Group personnel who volunteered and assisted with the hosting of the event .
"We have spoken to the Positive Foundation about repeating the Bike-A-Thon next year because it went very well and also because it is for a very good cause," said Stanley.
He said all monies raised from Saturday's event will go to the Positive Foundation for the group's continuing breast cancer public awareness programs.
