PHILIPSBURG:--- The month of October is designated by Rotary International as Vocational Service Month. In keeping with the 2013-2014 RI themes of "Engage Rotary Change Lives," The Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise invited nomination for its annual Vocational Service Awards for 2013-2014. Meals on Wheels Foundation was selected from among the nominees submitted for the award. To be eligible for the award, the nominee (Individual/Organization) had to demonstrate the following attributes:
- Exemplification of the Rotary spirit of "Service above Self";
- Involvement at the community level in activities connected to or associated with changing lives in the community
- High ethical and moral standards displayed in performance / work related to selected area of vocational service.
Meals on Wheels Foundation is a group of volunteers headed by President Mary Bryson who work service above self to prepare and deliver warm meals via their transportation to about 50 elderly and 20 children daily, they work selflessly to change lives in our community.
Accepting the award and Financial assistance retired Registered Nurse Mrs. Mary Bryson stated that she saw the need since 1995 to assist the community with Meals on Wheels, thereby providing warm meals especially to the elderly and underprivileged children, she stated that she takes pride in assisting, and look forward enthusiastically to her daily task.
