TelEm Group presents much-needed household items to Cole Bay fire victims.

telemdonatestoredcrossforcolebayfirevictims07112013POND ISLAND:--- TelEm Group management and staff have come to the aid of homeless victims of last month's massive fire in Cole Bay, presenting them with a host of household items to help them get back on their feet.
The selection of items included pillows, mattresses, various cooking items – including pots and pans, dinnerware and different paper products.
The items were presented to the Red Cross, Tuesday, for distribution to families and other victims of the fire most in need.
According to Red Cross Operations Manager, Julia Boasman, many of the fire victims are still living with families and friends and all will have to pick up their lives from scratch having lost all of their possessions in the devastating fire.
"The donation from TelEm will go a long way towards helping many of the fire victims as they continue to get their lives back together," said Ms. Boasman.
The Red Cross has taken on the task of assisting as many as 40 of the fire victims immediately after the fire and has continued to assist with the distribution of items donated by various community well-wishers.
TelEm Group said it was after consulting with the Red Cross and others assisting the fire victims with their recovery, that it was determined there is a great need for replacement of basic household items that were lost in the fire.
"Management and staff of TelEm Group were keen to assist in the best way possible because of the number of persons affected at one time," said Marketing Officer, Marelva Felix-Jones during the presentation.
She said management sent a message on behalf of the company immediately after the fire offering help and support and is pleased to be able to deliver on that promise with needed items.
TelEm Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Mrs. Helma Etnel said the company wanted to help, especially families and children, who have been made homeless and have lost their personal possessions from the fire.
"Any little we can do to bring some order back into their lives we are happy to do," said Mrs. Etnel.
