PHILIPSBURG:--- The Windward Islands Bank Ltd. is assisting the Filipino Community of St. Maarten with the collection of funds by placing donation boxes in all of its branches. We have all seen the news reports about the Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) that struck the Philippines with up to present almost 5000 casualties and still rising. Experts have recorded this typhoon as being more devastating than Hurricane Luis and Katrina. The boxes will be present until the end of the month. The funds collected will be sent to the Philippines Red Cross in order to provide immediate assistance. Given our distance from the Philippines, monetary donations are preferred.
