Public invited to National Commemoration of Remembrance Day on 4 May

GREAT BAY (DCOMM):---- The countries that comprise the Kingdom of the Netherlands will commemorate on Monday, 4th May National Remembrance Day 2015 with respect to the victims of war.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima will be present during the national commemoration of Remembrance Day this year in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

The Government of Sint Maarten will again remember all those – civilians and soldiers – who have been killed or murdered in the Kingdom of the Netherlands or anywhere else in the world in war situations or during peace-keeping operations since the outbreak of the Second World War.

The public are invited to attend the ceremony where the President of Parliament, the Governor and Prime Minister will also be present.

The commemoration and wreath-laying ceremony will take place on Monday, 4 May at 9.00am at the Captain Hodge Wharf in Philipsburg.

Residents can visit the following website www.antillesatwar.com and go to the link "War victims" to find a list of names of persons from Saba, St. Eustatius, Sint Maarten, Curacao, Aruba, Bonaire and some from the Netherlands who lost their lives during World War II in the Caribbean and elsewhere while sailing on various types of vessels or flying in an aircraft.
