PHILIPSBURG:---- The St. Maarten Development Movement (hereafter referred to as SDM) is a newly established movement that recognizes that the country is in a time of despair, political uncertainty and instability. The movement with an innovative and progressive nature has applied for registration at the offices of the Electoral Council on November 9th, 2015. The main goal of SDM is to dedicate itself to fulfilling the duties expected of them to maintain the government of the people, by the people and for the people.
The Founder and President of SDM, Mr. Benjamin Ortega, believes that the change required in St. Maarten will allow the realization of a future we truly believe in, with our hearts and minds. An innovative mindset in combination with immediate action is needed to accomplish this objective. This Progressive Movement prefers ACTION over argument, and is dedicated to solving problems that matter to us all, aimed at improving the overall quality of life in St. Maarten.
The Movement intends to demonstrate its worth through immediate action and change to shake off the feeling of indecisiveness, powerlessness and hopelessness of the people.
This country belongs to the people. Our resources, our businesses, our institutions and our laws should be fully utilized, maintained, enforced or amended in a manner that will best promote the general interest of St. Maarten.
It’s time for ACTION. It’s time to put the people’s quality of life first. It’s time for a new movement.
