Armed Robbery Committed at Gem’s Jewelry by lone gunman --- Police searching for suspect.

armedrobberyfillin13082012PHILIPSBURG:--- A lone gunman entered Gem’s Jewelry on Front Street Friday morning. Chief of Police Carl John who is currently off island told SMN News that based on information he obtained from KPSM is that a lone gunman entered the store with a gun and managed to snatch some change. John said the gun man then ran towards Back Street then jumped on a scooter and escaped. John said police are busy looking for the gunman who committed the latest robbery on Front Street.

Armed robbery:
The Police Department is presently investigating an armed robbery which took place on Friday October 13 at approximately 12.25 p.m. The call came in to the Central Dispatch informing that a man dressed in dark clothing and armed with a handgun had entered Gems Jewelry located next to Holland House on Front Street. He threatened the workers with his weapon and then pulled several gold chains from the chain rack. He then fled on foot towards Back Street where he is believed to have jumped on a scooter and fled the area. Several patrols searched the area to located the suspect but were not successful. This case in under investigation by the Special Robbery Unit.
Police update:
Over the last two weeks with the reinforcement of the 10 extra persons to assist the local police force (K.P.S.M.) in ongoing investigation, has shown very positive results. The 10 extra persons were provided by the Police forces of Aruba and Curacao, the Kingdom Detectives and the Royal Marechaussee. During these two weeks period a total of six persons were arrested. The last two arrests were made on Monday November 9th. During this arrest a male suspect with the initials A.M.G. (34) was arrested suspected of an armed robbery in Almond Grove which took place on September 15th 2015.
A second suspect with the initials A.H. (25) in the same case was arrested in the morning hours on November 13th. Both suspects remain in custody for further investigation. More arrests in connection with other armed robberies and other ongoing investigations will take place in the near future.
