Police thanks Community for Acting Quickly.

Philipsburg:--The police department is sending out a special thank you to residents of Lower Princess Quarter who called police when they noticed a number of armed youths in their area. Police Spokesman Johan Janchi Leonard said because of the residents who called for police assistance a gang of boys carrying handguns could not carry out their actions. Leonard said on Wednesday evening police was called when a group of Spanish speaking boys were seen carrying handguns, pistols and machete as they were looking for another group of men coming from Jamaica. According to information given to the police, the latter group was hiding in the hills of Dutch Quarter and the Spanish group was going behind them to settle a dispute, which began since the week before. Several patrols responded to the scene and stayed there for an extended period. Because of the police presence, the youths disappeared, while the police managed to confiscate a motor cycle that was left behind by one of the youths.
