PHILIPSBURG:--- The remaining members of the Supervisory Board of Directors and the Shareholder has decided to remove Sharine Daniel as the Temporary Manager of NV GEBE.
SMN News learned that the government-owned company has recruited Troy Washington to serve as Temporary Manager for a period of one month. The removal came after several intense meetings with the remaining four board members after the former chairman of the board Anastasio Baker and member Lela Simmons resigned.
SMN News understands that Washington will focus primarily on the finances of the government-owned company.
In the meantime, the statutory director (Chief Operations Manager) Merill Jimmy Temmer who was on extended sick leave has resumed his duties as of today September 2nd, 2022. Clearly, Clearly, Temmer took up his post to block the appointment of Troy Washington as Temporary Manager.
Clearly, the two directors' candidates have been playing one of the best chess games and it is now time for the shareholder to question the legitimacy of the COO's illness.
The shareholder instructed the SBOD to begin an independent investigation into the company's operations over the past months. It is not yet clear if a decision was taken to place Daniel on suspension with pay pending the outcome of that investigation.
According to reliable information reaching SMN News is that GEBE narrowly escaped a lien being placed on their accounts by SOL. The source said that a substantial payment was made to SOL since they announced placing a lien on NV GEBE’s account.
However, the company is still not out of the woods since they have to now make payments to Wartsilla, the company that services and provides spare parts for all of the engines at the power plant.
The Prime Minister and Minister of VROMI are expected to be in parliament this morning to discuss the financial situation at NV GEBE.
