Library conducts dance workshop with Clara Reyes and Rudolph Davis.

clarareyesandrudolphdavis21022013PHILIPSBURG:--- Under the theme "Grafting Roots: Passing on the Legacy", the Philipsburg Jubilee Library's (PJL) continues its Black History Month activities, with a dance workshop featuring Clara Reyes and Rudolph Davis on Saturday, February 23 from 12:00pm to 1:00PM.
The primary focus of the library's Black History Month activities is to shed light on achievements of St. Maarten's elders, who use their talent as an instrument for passing on the history, culture, and legacy of St. Maarten to the younger generations.
The Lady responsible for giving birth to St. Maarten's dance for Emancipation, the "Ponum ", and founder of Imbali Center for Creative Movement, Reyes has committed her life to educating countless of young, up-and-coming dancers in various dance forms. Her unwavering dedication to the development of dance on St. Maarten is unparalleled.
Reyes, with a keen eye for budding talent, was instrumental in encouraging the young dancer, Rudolph Davis, to pursue his passion for dance. Davis, as a result, now serves as dancer and instructor at the Imbali Center for Creative Movement and spreads St. Maarten's legacy of dance.
Reyes and Davis will be conducting a free workshop in dance for all ages in the Library's lobby on February 23, from 12:00 to 1:00pm. The general public is invited to attend.
