USM starts assessment campaign.

usmassessmentcampaign21032013Philipsburg:--- USM in its endeavour to avail St. Maarten of quality education courses has embarked on an assessment campaign to pulse the reality in terms of what is actually needed on St. Maarten. To that end, 2 experts in the respective domains, Ms. Tamara Hughes for Instructional Technology (IT) and Ms. Jose Sommers for Physical Education (PE) were approached and contracted to conduct an assessment on the need of IT and PE on St. Maarten.
The needs assessment presentation for Physical Education and Instructional technology was presented today at USM by Jose Sommers and Tamara Hughes. Present were Minister of Education Silveria Jacobs as well as other educational stake holders. The data from the needs assessment was presented along with recommendations for USM and government as well as description of created certificate programs for the said areas. Minister Jacobs said she supported the initiatives 100 percent. USM is excited to move forward with the support of the Ministry of Education as well as the school boards to provide further education in areas deemed necessary by the ministry, USM, and island schools officials.
