PHILIPSBURG:--- I have made the earnest decision to contest the first Parliamentary Election for Sint Maarten since it became a Country on October 10, 2010 (10-10-10). This is one of the most important decisions of my life. This decision that I made in confidence and with good faith, is that the time to bring about change is NOW!
Sint Maarten is poised to do amazing things in the scope of globalization. To take advantage of what lies "out there" we must first take "strict inventory" of what we have in-house as it relates to the talent and skills within the most precious resource required to build a country, our people!
I'm Cedric Peterson, born on Sint Maarten, and proud to carry the heritage of Sint Maarten and St. Kitts in my veins. My education began at the Methodist Agogic Centre and continued at the St. Maarten Academy high school, where I graduated in 1992. I obtained a Bachelor's of Science in Audio/Video Production and Telecommunications from the New England Institute of Technology in 1997.
I'm a broadcast journalist, with over 20 years of experience. My work in broadcasting actually began while attending high school, and my passion and skills for the field landed me dream jobs at various top radio stations on Sint Maarten.
I'm the nephew of the late Vance James Jr., one of Sint Maarten's iconic politicians. He was also a seasoned radio broadcaster, and well known for "A Moment with the Master," his early morning program on PJD-2 Radio 1300 AM. My father Cedric James, who is the brother of Vance James, Jr., now hosts the program.
The man that I am today, has been forged by the strength and tireless efforts of my mother and grandmother, two of the most amazing and loving women a child could have in a lifetime. Both ladies have taught me the values of setting goals, working hard, and seeing goals through to completion.
I'm now humbly asking for your vote on August 29, 2014 – for Cedric Peterson, candidate #11, to represent and serve you in the Parliament of Sint Maarten.
Your support is vital in helping me to do the work with a National Alliance government, to take this country Forward in lowering the cost of living, building schools, and expanding the quality of education and sports and youth affairs. To create and build a sustainable and inclusive economy where our people can find not just jobs but quality work that ensures a high standard of living in our own country. To have affordable access to a National Health Insurance plan, increased pensions for our seniors, affordable high speed Internet access, and to develop a comprehensive transportation system that will assist greatly in reducing our carbon foot print as an island in the Caribbean. These are only some of the areas that make up my vision for "A Way Forward" for Sint Maarten.
We have good things to do, Sint Maarten! LET'S GET TO WORK!
Vote Cedric Peterson, #11 for Parliament – "A Way Forward"
