PHILIPSBURG:---- Junior Chamber International JCI Dutch Caribbean held its National Convention on 15-17 October, 2015. Leaders, Innovation Vibrant of Equality Soualiga referring back to the rich Heritage of Sint Maarten by coining the name we are recapturing that rich heritage.
JCI LIVE Soualiga is the newest chapter of JCI in Sint Maarten. Our name represents our identity and the impact we wish to see our organisation have in the community. It status as becoming part of the JCI Dutch Caribbean was recognize and got the blessings from the other local organizations of Curacao, Bonaire, Aruba to get a period of 1 year to be fully affiliated with the Dutch Caribbean. The local organization within the Dutch Caribbean has welcome the new chapter the blessing of New Provisional status and the National organization will give all the necessary support and guide in making the chapter a success. The incoming president Delmarie York –Cornelius has present the Plan of action of 2016 during the conference at the General Assembly meeting. As the theme for our plan of Action MYC indicates are focus is creating a mouth piece for our Members, Our Youth and Our Community. An atmosphere of equality must be created and fosters if you want to create a good membership base. Our Youths are in need of programs that help them navigate the obstacles of life, by offering them the right tool so that they can become productive members of society. Our community by tackling social issues that are plaguing our local society. As a new chapter our biggest obstacle is creating a name for ourselves, growing awareness and establishing a positive image of JCI LIVE Soualiga in the Community of Sint Maarten. The new chapter was also represented by VP Anthony Mcclean and JCI LIVE Youth Public Speaking D’Shnay York has enter the JCI Dutch Caribbean Speech contest and did well however winner was from Curacao from the chapter Willemstad.
