PHILIPSBURG:--- Recently appointed Minister of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure (VROMI), the Honorable Minister, Angel C. Meyers had the opportunity to meet with management and members of the board of the St. Maarten Housing Development Foundation (SMHDF) on Friday, December 04, 2015.
The Hon. Minister was given a presentation by management outlining the goals of SMHDF for the period 2016-2020. In addition, the board highlighted to the Minister the various challenges it faces in the execution of its responsibilities, emphasizing the lack of financial assistance from government and the shortfall of property to build affordable housing. The objectives of SMHDF are to build, renovate, manage, and maintain affordable housing accommodation on the island of St. Maarten.
Hon. Minister Meyers with the backing of the ministry has committed to seeking out new ways to foster a partnership with SMHDF. The Minister's aim is to improve the housing needs of the populace during his tenure.
On Friday, November 27, 2015, Angel C. Meyers took the oath of office as Minister of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure before His Excellency, Governor Eugene B. Holiday.
