Willemstad, Curacao:--- The Coast Guard Caribbean Area (KWCARIB) held a vessel with seven unidentified residents near Aruba on Tuesday 9 May.
On Tuesday night at 22.40, the Coast Guard Rescue and Coordination Center radar operator detected a suspicious contact on the radar south of Baby Beach, Aruba. Two Super-RHIB units of the Aruba Coast Guard Auxiliary Support Center were deployed equally. About two and a half miles south of Baby Beach, they encountered an unlighted vessel type Yola. This was boarded by the crew of the Super-RHIB and found seven detainees that had no valid residency documents. The boat was brought to it to the support point at Savaneta. All of the defendants, five Venezuelans, one Ecuadorian and Colombian nationality have been transferred to the Warda Nos Costa who is still investigating the case with the Coast Guard. The captain of the vessel is detained for human trafficking. The boat has been seized.
