PHILIPSBURG:--- Some of the shops that will open their doors on Thursday are supermarkets, pharmacies, gas stations, cooking gas companies, and banks. This is based on the adjusted national decree. While these businesses will be opened as of Thursday the lockdown remains in effect and only persons that need essential items are allowed to leave their homes.
During the first hour, the elderly will be given priority to shop says Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs during the virtual Council of Ministers of meeting on Wednesday.
Persons who did not get to cash their checks prior to the shut down could do so today Wednesday as some banks have agreed to open their doors.
In the meantime, the Council of Ministers have decided to fly all flags at half mask in honor of the victims of COVID-19, Prime Minister Jacobs said St. Maarten is in a state of mourning and as such the Council of Ministers have decided to honor those that lost their lives due to the pandemic.
