~License plates are being switched, complaint was filed with Prosecutors Office.~
PHILIPSBURG:--- “Police Officers are known for keeping stolen vehicles while KPSM management covers up” this statement was made by Franklin Brison a victim whose vehicle was stolen on the night of September 9th, 2019. Brison contacted SMN News after reading an article published on Sunday whereby a stolen vehicle belonging to a car rental was seen parked up in front of the Philipsburg Police Station.
In recounting his ordeal Brison said that he filed a report on Monday, September 10th, 2019 after his Grand I10 with license plate M-10432 was stolen, he said one week later his wife saw his vehicle driving on Arch Road and headed to Middle Region at the time the vehicle had on one license plate M-13521 He said police were informed but nothing was done. A few weeks later Brison said his wife again spotted the vehicle, this time it was being driven by a police officer on E. Camile Richardson Street with the same one license plate M-13521 and she thought police had found their vehicle and was taking it to the Police Station. Brison said officer Hernandez was seen driving the vehicle again with the one license plate M-13521 on the back of the vehicle and instead of stopping at the Police Station the officer drove away while his wife looked on. He said that his wife informed the Police but nothing was done. Brison said another Grand I 10 was also seen in Marigot parked up with the other license plate, he said when he was informed that the vehicle was parked in Marigot he came over to the French side and called the Gendarmes only to find an older version of Grand I10 bearing the other side of the same number plate, that vehicle he said belonged to officer Hernandez mother.
Brison said again he informed police of his discoveries and spoke to several officers but they did nothing. He said M13521 is registered to someone from Cole Bay identified as Tyrone Brown. Brison said when he asked certain police officers who handled the case how was it possible for their colleague to be driving around with one number plate that does not even belong to him he said the officers insulted him and even used obscene language at him telling him that is none of his business. He said he later filed a complaint with the Prosecutors Office and they turned over his case to KPSM for further investigation.
Brison said just recently the officer was seen driving the older Grand I10 with both number plates and KPSM detectives informed him that they investigated the case and in fact, the older Grand I10 was purchased but no accountability was given about the number plate that is used on the vehicle. Brison one year and two months after reporting his vehicle stolen, several persons including his wife saw a Police Officer from KPSM, a descendant of Peru and Curacao driving his car and to date, his car was not turned over to him. He alleged that there are major coverups regarding stolen vehicles at the KPSM.
A French Insurance Company also informed SMN News that the Dutch police and the Towing Companies have been involved in a major racket with stolen vehicles bearing a French license plate. The insurance broker said that when vehicles on the French side are reported stolen Insurance companies must pay out the owners 30-days after the vehicles are reported stolen. He said on many occasions the French license plate vehicles when they are recovered they are taken to Towing Companies business places where they are forced to pay a daily fee for the impounding of the vehicle. The broker said these vehicles are stripped and parts are sold while impounded and only after it completely stripped the insurance companies or the owners are notified and then they are presented with a huge bill for storage. The broker said KPSM and its officers are part of this racket and have been going on for years.
SMN News further learned that KPSM Officer Hernandez sells and rents cars. A source said that KPSM is fully aware that the officer is involved in stealing cars and he is being watched. The source further explained that they were warned because they were doing business with the Police Officer who erases the VIN numbers from stolen vehicles that he rents and sells.
