Collectivity orders household waste collection companies to begin collection immediately.

garbage01022021MARIGOT:--- The Collectivity of Saint-Martin informs the inhabitants of the sectors going from Orient Bay to Marigot that following the stoppage of the public household waste collection service since Friday, January 29 in the evening, a requisition procedure for the collection of garbage in all collection points, was launched on Monday, February 1, 2021. This procedure was initiated as a matter of urgency at the request of President Daniel Gibbs, with the support of the State authorities, for the sake of public health and safety. a return to normal as soon as possible.
The requisition procedure will generate an immediate collection of waste, bulky and green waste that has piled up in the sectors mentioned since Friday evening. The service providers in these sectors are informed of the current requisition. Note that the Oyster-Pond, Orléans, and Sandy Ground districts are not affected by this public service shutdown.
Indeed, some of the service providers operating on behalf of the Collectivity have stopped collecting waste, citing a delay in paying their invoices. On this point, the Collectivity confirms that it has mandated all the remaining services to be paid. The last mandates were carried out last week. The main treasury is committed to making transfers to the service providers concerned today.

Notifications for this market are currently underway. It will be operational in the coming days and will provide a legal framework for this public service provision for the next 4 years.
The Collectivity of Saint-Martin regrets this break in public service and apologizes to users for the inconvenience caused. The situation will return to order today, with a collection scheduled from tonight and for a period of 15 days.
