Government to meet with GEBE Supervisory Board and Management.

~ Contract signed with Interim Manager, Minister of VROMI not informed. ~

PHILIPSBURG: --- The government of St. Maarten will be meeting with the Supervisory Board of Directors and the Management team of GEBE on Thursday where it is expected that the feud taking place between parties will be further discussed, confirmed Minister of VROMI Egbert Jurendy Doran.
SMN News learned that that the SBOD of GEBE signed a two-month contract with Mauricio Devon Dembrook who is expected to take up the helm on Thursday. Dembrook was prosecuted in 2013 and was acquitted in 2014 for money laundering, however Dembrook a former employee of GEBE also a vendor of the company quit his job when it was discovered that he made illegal connections in the Cupe Coy area.
While there is a huge file of the investigation conducted by the former director of NV GEBE Romelio Maduro at NV GEBE, no charges were filed by NV GEBE against the incoming interim manager Dembrook.
The SBOD of NV GEBE sought out the now interim manager without conducting proper background checks prior, however, after several social media posts the SBOD of NV GEBE requested a report from the prosecutor’s office but have not taken the internal files of the former GEBE employee into consideration prior to signing a contract on Monday, asked about this appointment the Minister of VROMI  Egbert Doran said he was not informed by the SBOD of the appointment of a new interim manager.
SMN News asked Minister of VROMI Egbert Doran about the developments at NV GEBE and if the SBOD submitted a final report on the recruitment process, Minister Doran said that a report was submitted on Tuesday however, that report was not yet discussed in the Council of Ministers. Doran said since the matter was not yet discussed internally, he will not divulge information at this moment. Doran also said he was not informed about the contract signed by the SBOD with the new interim manager. The Minister promised to inform the community of St. Maarten after discussions with the SBOD and Interim Manager Sharine Daniel takes place.
SMN News learned that the SBOD informed the Minister that the selected candidate for the CEO and CFO positions have declined.
Therefore, the candidates that have to be contacted are now interim manager Sharine Daniel for the CEO position George Willems for CFO and Jimmy Timmer for COO.
It is not known if the SBOD gave positive recommendations to the Minister regarding the second candidate that held the interim manager position since November 2020. That second candidate Sharine Daniel resigned from the position due to irreconcilable differences as stated in her letter of resignation.
