PHILIPSBURG:--- A large quantity of various types of drugs were burnt Monday evening in the Cape Bay area. While Police have not identified the location where the substances and marijuana trees were destroyed SMN News learned it was done in the Cape Bay area.
Police Spokesman Joe Josepha confirmed that KPSM received authorization from the Prosecutor’s Office to destroy the illegal substances. Asked what types and the amount of drugs were destroyed Josepha said they had all types of drugs that were confiscated that had to be destroyed. However, he did not say how much of the illegal substances were destroyed.
Confiscated drugs destroyed
On Monday, March 15th, 2021 around 05.00 pm, on instructions from the public prosecutor, a large amount of confiscated narcotics was transported to a location in the Cay Bay area and destroyed under the supervision of personnel from the KPSM and Customs and Fire Department.
The narcotics, which consisted of soft and hard drugs, were burned late last evening. The drugs were confiscated over a period of months by the various law enforcement agencies on Sint Maarten.
