Family feud leaves two hospitalized, one arrested. (UPDATED)

PHILIPSBURG:---A family feud that began early Friday morning has two persons hospitalized, one is said to be in critical condition while the other is stable. The third person has been arrested.
According to information provided to SMN News is that two young men got into a fight with their uncle which led to a stabbing, leaving two persons severely injured. The incident took place on L. B Scott Road.

Police Spokesman Joe Josepha confirmed that a fight occurred between family members and three people were injured. The police spokesman said no one lost their life in the stabbing incident. Josepha said police arrested one of the persons involved in the stabbing while the other two are in the St. Maarten Medical Center.

The mother of the injured men said that her brother is the one that attacked her sons and stabbed them. She said that her brother has refused to work and is in the habit of threatening people including his own sister who allowed him to live in her house free of cost. The angry mother said her brother would not even pay utility bills and he is very much untidy. “This man urinates around the place and when he is confronted, he wants to fight and threaten other people. The two victims she said are her sons and are brothers, ages 23 and 28 years old.

 

Family dispute leads to 2 men severely injured and one arrested

An altercation among family members on Friday has left two men seriously injured and another arrested.

The Police Dispatch Center received a call on Friday, April 23, around 10:30 am about the altercation on L.B. Scot Road close to the entrance of St. Peters Road. The Police patrol and ambulance personnel arrived on the scene to find three badly injured men; two were bleeding profusely.

Two of the men were treated by the paramedics on site before being rushed to St. Maarten Medical Center. One man, who is in critical condition, could not give a statement to detectives. The second man is also hospitalized with stab wounds. He is in stable condition.

The investigation found that a fight ensued after an argument between an uncle and his two nephews. The uncle apparently used a knife to assault his nephews.

The uncle was arrested at the scene by the police and taken to Philipsburg Police Station; afterward, he was also treated at SMMC. He has a broken arm and an injury to the head that he appeared to have sustained in the brawl. He remains in Police custody.
The Police Force of St. Maarten KPSM informs anyone who chooses to engage in abusive actions that they will be held accountable. It is easier to just walk away from a heated situation than risk arrest.
