McDonald’s taking PJIAE to Court.

Airport:--- The Management of McDonald's fast food chain has filed a court case against the Princess Juliana International Airport and is suing the Government owned company for damages.
SMN News learnt that the Managing Director of PJIAE Regina Labega issued a letter to McDonald's some months ago and she even allocated one of the units in the Food Court to McDonald's. The letter issued by Labega guarantees the businessman that he will be allowed to operate at PJIAE. SMN News further learnt that the businessman went ahead and invested sums of monies for the new outlet.
However, when the UP/DP Government lost their majority in Government, the source said Labega sent out a letter to McDonald's retracting the unit that was awarded to them. According to information provided to SMN News, a letter was sent to the PJIAE Managing Director to reconsider her position on the retraction and she was given a specific amount of time in which she should react but she did not which left the businessman with no choice but to file a court case.

Home Owners on Airport Road told to move their homes.

SMN News further understands that all the home owners of the Airport road were given harsh letters informing them to move their homes to other locations since PJIAE bought the land on which their homes are located to construct the a parallel taxiway. It is not yet clear if the homeowners have agreed to sell their properties to PJIAE.
According to sources within the Management of PJAIE, the homeowners knew for years that they had to relocate or sell their homes to the Airport for its expansion but the approach the Airport took recently on the appraisals of the homes was rude and ruthless.
Sources within the management of PJIAE also said that appraisals were conducted on two significant homes in the Simpson Bay area. The source said that appraisals were conducted on the home of the Prime Minister's mother and that of Clarence Derby.

ACA Continues to Meet as they intend to take drastic Actions.

In the meantime, the Airport Concessionaires Association (ACA) that was recently formed continued meeting with various stakeholders to finalize their plans of actions by June 30th 2012.
SMN News has been reliably informed that the ACA had its lawyers send a letter to Prime Minister Sarah Wescot Williams and Deputy Prime Minister William Marlin inviting them to an urgent meeting to discuss the operational and other costs at the Princess Juliana International Airport.
According one of the concessionaires, another concessionaire received a letter on Wednesday informing them of the conditions to renew the one year contract that is offered to them by PJIAE. The source said that not only does the contract have several clauses that are detrimental to their businesses but the operational and other costs have been increased instead of being decreased.
