As soon as we step outside our doors in the morning we are breaking some law. They cannot only tap our phones at will but can also spy on us in our bedrooms without restrictions. In a recent letter to the editor a short-sighted, left-winger wrote that I was trying to spread fear without taking the time to analyse what I was really saying. Just look at how much more rights criminals have than you do.
The person went on to say that the definition of money laundering is "concealing the source of illegally gotten money." The candy lady on Back Street does not have a business licence and is not registered at Chamber Of Commerce. So, since she has no licence to sell candy her money by law is "illegally gotten." She can now be prosecuted for money laundering and tax evasion.
Here is another example: Sylvan Gumbs "Pappa or Hoss" from the head of town goes fishing for jacks with his jack-net. Not only must he now have a captain's licence for his 15 foot fishing boat and a licence for his net, but he must also have a business licence and a fishing licence to sell the jacks he caught or his money by definition under our law is "illegally gotten." Therefore, he can also now be prosecuted for money laundering, tax evasion and for being an unlicensed captain and having an unlicensed jack-net. Pappa can now face more charges that Bin Laden or Pablo Escobar...no one took the time to know that Sylvan was self-sufficient and fishing for more than 60 years. Unable to no longer fish, he now sits dependant on welfare and handouts.
I suggest to those that are still in doubt to go through all of the hundreds and thousands of laws on the books and check it out. The liberal left-wingers and the mainstream press have also judged and convicted Zimmerman in Florida without knowing all of the facts of the case. While three British tourists were car jacked, robber and murdered in Overtown Miami at the same time by a 17 old teen wearing a hooded sweatshirt, there was no international press coverage and no Jessie Jackson or Al Sharpton showing up to fight for these victims' rights.
Last week in Chicago gang members sprayed a neighbourhood with bullets killing 17n people including a two-year-old child. There was also no national or international press coverage nor Jesse or Al. I wonder why?
I suppose if one is an obedient slave, which conforms to the established order, one should have no fear; however, most of us live in fear of walking on Front Street after eight at night, opening our stores, restaurants and gas stations after nine at night and live behind bars when we go home.
We are not only afraid of the robbers and rapists, we must now be afraid of our government. The over-fed, cigar-smoking fat boys in the civil service have no clue of what it takes to earn a dollar, after all they don't even have to stand in line to collect their pay check any longer; their checks are now sent directly to their bank accounts, work or not.

You are so correct Mr. Jefferson St. Maarten is now closer than ever to a heavy-handed dictatorship thanks to the authority given to justice and the civil service. My mother always said, gives a man austerity, a badge or a uniform and immediately he believes that he has been transformed into God.
