Armed robbery suspects in custody in Guadeloupe.

MARIGOT:--- Two individuals, one aged 15 years and the other 18 years, were transferred to Guadeloupe on Friday to face charges of committing a series of armed robberies at the end of December. The 15-year-old, a resident of Sandy Ground, was arrested by Gendarmes following an attempted burglary at a house in Baie Nettle on December 31 at 3:50pm. The occupant of the house however managed to scare the thief away.
The subsequent investigation revealed that this same individual had taken part in three armed robberies previously. They included: Theft of an electronic multi-media item on the public road in Lowlands on December 29 at 4:40pm. The thief got away on a scooter.
The attempted snatching of a handbag in Anse Marcel on December 29 at 10:30pm by two individuals on a scooter and armed with a gun, knife, and distress flare. The thieves took flight due to vigorous resistance by the victim.
The theft of car keys and money on Sunday December 30 at 5:45pm belonging to a motorist parked in Baie Nettle. The thief was armed with a gun and also stole the victim's vehicle.
The 15-year-old suspect, is believed to have been involved in three of the armed robberies, and the 18-year-old who attempted the robbery in Anse Marcel, were taken into custody. Under questioning they admitted to their involvement in the above crimes.
The Gendarmerie indicated the multi-media item and the stolen car had been found and returned to their rightful owners.
