Philipsburg:--- The four members of the Supervisory Board of the St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) has sent a letter to the Minister of Health Cornelius de Weever informing him that they will not resign from their positions since they see no reason to do so. The Minister of Health Cornelius de Weever sent a letter to the SMMC board and announced publicly in Parliament that he asked the four board members to make their positions available. It should be noted that two of the Supervisory Board members of SMMC are not residing on St. Maarten. One of the board members live on Curacao while another one is living in St. Eustatius.
The Supervisory Board of SMMC is tasked with the appointment of a Director of SMMC which is without a Director since Dr. George Scot vacated the position. SMN News further learned that the Supervisory Board already indicated to the Minister of Health that they are not able to find a suitable person to appoint as Managing Director of the only Medical Institution on St. Maarten.
SMN News learnt that there are three persons functioning as interim director of SMMC but two of them are currently off island.
