Marigot/Great Bay:--- Historical and contemporary figures or personalities, eight in total, make up the history quiz for the 22nd annual Black History Celebration (BHC).
The top quiz winner will receive the much in-demand iPad mini with a surprise download of a recent St. Martin-published eBook, said Shujah Reiph, president of Conscious Lyrics Foundation, organizer of the island-wide BHC.
"We are happy to participate in this educational quiz," said Krisha Kukreja, public relations officer at the Blue Point computer store.
To be a winner of the iPad and other prizes, each quiz figure has to be identified correctly by his or her first and last name; and a short biography of no less than 30 words has to be written about the person, said Reiph.

The completed quiz and contact information can also be delivered in a sealed envelope addressed to Conscious Lyrics Foundation, to the Philipsburg Jubilee Library, C. Voges Street 12; Blue Point, 93 WJA Nisbeth Road, Philipsburg; or SOS Radio, 197 rue de Hollande, Marigot – by Thursday, February 28, 2013. The first, second, and third prize winners will be announced on Saturday, March 2, said Reiph.
Blue Point, SOS 95.9 FM, and House of Nehesi Publishers (HNP) are sponsors of the quiz for BHC 2013, said Reiph.
"Labor, the cradle of our civilization" is the theme of this year's month-long commemoration of history. "Each year since 1991, Conscious Lyrics Foundation has publicly celebrated the history of Africa and its Diaspora around the world, including in the Caribbean and the Americas. We also place special emphasis on history-makers and history-making events from the island of St. Martin," said Reiph.
