THE HAGUE, Netherlands:--- MP van Raak asked St. Maarten independent Member of Parliament Patrick Illidge to leave the inter-parliamentary meetings currently taking place in The Hague. Van Raak based his request on a newspaper article that was printed in the Telegraph in the Netherlands. In a telephone interview with SMN News, MP Illidge said that the Dutch MP did make the request for him to leave but the leader of St. Maarten's delegation and President of Parliament Rodolphe Samuel intervened stating that none of what MP van Raak said is on the agenda for discussion and asked that Illidge be allowed to stay in the meetings. MP Illidge said the proposal made by President Samuel was seconded by the other members of the delegation and he was allowed to remain in the ongoing inter-parliamentary discussions. President of St. Maarten's Parliament Rodolphe Samuel also confirmed the information. MP Illidge also said that it is clear that the Dutch MP's are working on something and he is of the opinion that the United Peoples Party on St. Maarten which he once supported is involved in some sort of scheme with the Dutch to embarrass the current coalition government.
